librutex

librutex is a Cyrillic (Russian) HTML to TeX converter. Using librutex you can convert HTML files with Cyrillic (Russian) characters into TeX, PostScript and PDF files.

librutex is for using in the unix environment (Linux, Solaris), but should also work in the cygwin environment for Win32.

librutex is a set of perl/shell scripts, TeX macros and cyrillic fonts which could be found in the CVS

The name of the project came from the name of Maxim Moshkow's library: lib.ru which contains many texts in Russian.

As it was mentioned on the Slashdot it is not convenient to read long texts from the computer's screen. With librutex it's possible to convert html texts into TeX files; pictures in jpeg, png and gif formats into encapsulated PostScript; and then with the help of TeX and ghostscript get the final text in PostScript or PDF formats which are ready for printing.
